Anthimos Machairiotis

Anthimos Machairiotis was born in Lazanias of Nicosia in 1905. He graduated from the Theological School of Athens in 1942. On February 4th 1951 he was ordained Metropolitan Bishop of Kiti. In 1973, along with two other Metropolitan Bishops of Cyprus, he defrocked Archbishop Makarios. Next, Makarios called an A Fortiori Council which unfrocked Anthimos on July 14th 1973. Anthimos passed away in 1976 and he was reinstated by an A Fortiori Council held on April 6th 1982. 


Iacovou Nina

Nina Iacovou is a wonderful sculptor with more than 60 years of creative experience. In 2002 and 2005 her work was displayed through two personal exhibitions, while in 2013 the Fine Arts Chamber held an exhibition displaying her work, this way honoring her for her long contribution to the world of Art.

Kyprianou Theodoros

Dr Kyprianou Theodoros

Dr. Kyprianou Theodoros heads the Intensive Care Unit at the Nicosia General Hospital. He is an assistant professor of Pathology and honorary lecturer at the St George University of London Medical School, in the Medical School of the University of Nicosia. He is also vice-chairman of the Committee for the evaluation of health technology and the Informatics Team of the European Intensive Care Company.

Polys Kyriakou

Polys Kyriakou, a poet, versifier and bright scientist, was born on July 16th 1957 in Lazanias. He graduated with a degree in Political Sciences from the Panteion University and also holds a Master’s Degree in Graphic Design from the Pratt Institute in Brooklyn, New York.

From 2004 until 2015 he voluntarily offered his services to the non-profitable Radio Station Cosmos FM – Greek American Education Pubic Information System, Inc. (GAEPIS) as a music producer, while he was also member of the GAEPIS’ Board of Directors.

From 2015 until today, he has been offering his services voluntarily to the non-profitable Radio Station Aktina FM.

He is the founder and President of the “ORFEAS, FOUNDATION FOR GREEK MUSIC AND ART”.

He has published two poetic collections in Cyprus and Greece titled “Schemata” and “Metashimatismoi”. “Schemata” received first prize in the competition for best new litterateur in Cyprus.

Ignatios Mitrofanous

Visual Artist Ignatios was born in Lazanias. He graduated with a scholarship for academic excellence from the Athens School of Fine Arts.
